The Seed Sector Support Project (SSSP)
The Project Objectives are to encourage production and marketing of vegetable seeds from the Eastern Hills around Dhankuta and in the Western Hills around Baglung. METCON was responsible for the project management and implementation of program activities covering. (i) enhancing production and sustainable marketing issues of vegetable seeds to benefit the hill farmers, (ii) Establishment of private sector seed business organization, (iii) introducing new vegetable and cereal to boost up production among the hill farmers, (iv) Strengthening GoN national seed programs with refining Seed Regulations and building physical infrastructure for National Seed Board, (v) collaboration with partner organizations like CBED and other related organizations and creating a direct linkage between seed growers, and seed traders farmers, and (vi) assisting in institutional strengthening with /N manpower development.
Location : 11 districts including 4 in eastern Koshi Hills, 4 in western Dhaulagiri Hill districts, and 3 in far-west hill districts
