South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Tourism Development Plan ADB TA No: 3700

The Project objectives are: (i) to develop  a cooperative spirit among the tourism industries of the sub-region; (ii) to contribute to sustainable economic growth; (iii) to use eco-tourism as a tool to reduce poverty; (iv) to generate employment opportunities; and (v) to facilitate private sector investment in tourism. METCON has provided the services of four regional tourism planning experts and one tourism economist who were responsible for the output of (i) a framework programme under which future activities would be structured; (ii) specific project ideas and concept plans for appropriate tourism development in key; and (iii) project ideas for joint destination marketing (iv) feasibility studies on road, tourism spots, water supply and sanitation and airport projects.
