Agriculture and Rural Development depends on the integration and sustainable management of human and natural resources. We have provided the expertise services in fields of Agriculture Enterprises and Marketing (agri-business, storage, processing and handling, capacity building, and project economics); Crop Production and Animal Husbandry (rained and irrigated agriculture, livestock production, husbandry and veterinary services, agriculture engineering); Agro-forestry and Forestry (agro-forestry systems and social forestry, forestry planning and forestation, forest management)
We have participated in large agriculture and rural development programs and integrated watershed management programs in Nepal and India. The expertise services have been delivered in areas of policy analysis, project design and implementation, project management, production and marketing, extension and training, user groups formation, local level planning, enhance export of agriculture products, rural infrastructure, irrigation, drafting rules and regulations for quality control, institutional strengthening, preparation of forestry master plan, evaluation and monitoring, and preparing agriculture development strategy with a 20 years vision.
Environment impacts are identified for successful completion of the projects. Sometimes it may be the make or break for many projects. We identify environment risks and develop cost effective solutions to maximize environment and economic benefits by conducting environment and social impact assessment, preparing mitigation plan, monitoring and audit. We provide expertise services in environment and social impact assessment, environmental health and safety management, solid waste management, and ecological and scientific investigation. We have completed a number of EIA studies encompassing hydropower, water supply and sanitation, transmission line, eco-tourism in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri-Lanka and prepared a solid waste management plan for secondary towns in Nepal.
Climate Change has serious impact on natural resources and biodiversity. In line with the Millennium Development Goals, we need to conserve natural resources and protect biodiversity for future generations. Minimizing and mitigating the effects of global climate change have become key components of several programs on rural development, watershed management, and infrastructure development, and EIA studies undertaken by METCON. These activities well address a wide range of issues in environment protection, natural resources, and climate change adaptation.
